Seven practical commitments

Prepared to listen. Ready to do the work.

Joe's priorities

Seven practical commitments

A councillor cannot do the work alone. Joe's commitment is to arrive prepared, ask practical questions, listen to residents and staff, and work constructively with the rest of council. His priorities are rooted in the responsibilities of local government and in decades of seeing what makes municipal projects succeed.

Accountable decisions

Residents deserve timely information, open discussion and clear reasons for council decisions. Joe will listen, ask direct questions, explain his votes and be available to residents.

Reliable core infrastructure

Use asset inventories, condition assessments and long-term plans to make evidence-based decisions about roads, water, wastewater, storm systems, buildings and other core services.

Responsible spending

Define projects properly, reduce avoidable risk, use local capacity where practical and measure whether public spending delivers useful results.

Local business

Work with local businesses to understand barriers to improvements and expansion. Make City processes clearer, more predictable and easier to navigate.

Housing + development

Simplify and speed up appropriate building improvements and housing applications without lowering safety, infrastructure or neighbourhood standards.

Neighbourhood voice

Require early, meaningful consultation on major rezoning and land-use decisions, then provide transparent reasons for the final decision.

Community partnerships

Work with local organizations, volunteers and other governments to turn good ideas into completed projects.
